Artist’s Reflection on a Successful Art Exhibit

A “Pinch Me” Moment I’ll Never Forget

When I think about what a “pinch me” moment would feel like this was it! Many Moods was my first solo exhibit consisting of only original paintings. I didn’t include lower price point items for back up as I normally do in previous events. I was beyond excited, yet I had this rising fear as I completed each painting that I would end up bringing them all back to my studio. You see, we are currently living in a time where there is so much to worry about. Even though art is needed, it can be looked at as a luxury.

In light of this, I created a series of 6×6 paintings, priced to sell. Therefore, more buyers could have the chance to own an original. They were my safety net, yet as the evening unfolded, something surprised me. Instead of gathering around the smaller pieces, people gravitated toward the larger paintings. For me, this is an important lesson to reflect on.  I need to trust my potential buyers to decide where they fit in the art world. I can’t let fear shape what I create. My focus needs to stay on creating art that resonates emotionally. You can purchase available originals in my shop.

It takes courage to put your work out in the world but having the support I felt in that room makes it all worth it. Every sale brought a round of applause which quite literally brought me to tears. I will hold the feeling of that evening every time I question whether to continue painting. All the months of preparation resulted in my most successful art exhibit to date! The Power of Women Supporting Women

On a side note, the video posted below was made by the founder of a women’s social club of which I am a current member.  These women and some spouses came out in a big way that evening and for that I am thankful. Women supporting women is what this club is about, take a look here; Made in Gathering.
